Albury Vets V London Japanese - Sunday 30th September at Shere Rec. Kick Off 10:30AM
Second victory of the season against the London Japanese.
A vey tight game with few chances coming to either side was decided by three magnificent strikes, two from Lee and one from Nigel. With the LJ going one up it was looking tough but the VETS held firm and played some lovely football on the floor. Shape and positional awareness proved the key in this hard fought victory!
A five man midfield in the first half stifled the Japanese but also limited our attacking options. Switching to the more conventional 4-4-2 in the second half created more attacking options with space more readily available with tired legs all over the pitch.
One goal down, Lee cut in from the left, looked up and saw a badly postioned keeper and fired the ball into the net. 1-1!! A similar move a a few minitues later and it was 2-1 to the mighty VETS. 10 mis to go Noj took the ball out of defence and fired a through ball to Nigel who calmy fired the ball into the net give two goal cushion. How this was needed! with only 5 mins of the game to go, the Japanese scored a quality goal from outside the area but that was all as the VETS hung on for a hard fought victory.
Sad news for Stephanne who limped off after ten mins. Speedy recovery wishes from all.
Another excellent performance with commanding and this time disciplined positional awareness from the whole team.
Well done all.
Chris.
