Where us old un's came from....
Drawing from several towns and villages within a 20-mile radius, Albury Eagles Football Club has quickly grown to become a friendly and viable sporting venture, with a visionary aim of providing rural soccer in the Tillingbourne Valley for children up to under 16 level.
In 2002, training began with just eight players, growing by 2005 to over 130. There are now 17 distinct teams operating in the 2011/12 season and more than 300 players in the Club, ranging from U6s to U16s, a Seniors side and a Veterans team. We are members of Surrey County FA, Tadworth Schools League, South Surrey Youth League and Horsham and District Youth Football League. In May 2005, we attained the prestigious FA Charter Standard Club award.
Our club colours are sky blue and white, the founding colours of our hosts, Albury Cricket Club. We make use of various venues around the Tillingbourne area for training and matches, including Albury Cricket Ground, Shere Recreation Ground and Tillingbourne School, and occasionally at Bramley Cricket Club. Parents and players alike are keen to see training and matches all accomplished by Saturday lunchtime, leaving the rest of the weekend free for other activities.
Membership is considered from school age Year 1 (U6s) with friendlies played up to U7. League play begins at U8 level, with 7-a-side mini-soccer, the U11s to U14s have the option of either 9-a-side or 11-a-side formats with the fixed 11-a-side format starting from U15s.
We are very grateful to the local businesses who helped us get up and running, with kind donations supplying kit and training equipment for our first few games. Sincere thanks also go to Albury Cricket and Football Club, who kindly provide us with playing and training facilities. Indeed, Albury Eagles Football Club is now part of the overall sporting structure that Albury Cricket Club has become, bringing together seniors and juniors in both football and cricket.
In the summer months, via Albury Junior Cricket Club, cricket coaching is also offered on Albury Heath on Friday evenings. Five a side football takes place every Thursday evening, either at Duke of Kent School or Albury Heath
